Edward Lee Scroggins of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012 after lengthy battles of lung cancer and other medical conditions from Agent Orange.
He was a SEAL with the US Navy and served on the USS Buchannan in the Republic of Vietnam and other ports out of San Diego, CA. He was also a former corrections officer with the Federal Prison Systems.
Ed was born and raised in Morrisville, Missouri, and is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Smith), who resides in Fayetteville, North Carolina, his daughters, Robyn Dickenson and husband Ty, who is deployed to Afghanistan, live in Fayetteville, N.C., and Tina Nowak and husband Lance, live in Grand Haven, Michigan. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zacharie, who is deployed to Afghanistan, and Elizabeth, who lives with her parents in Michigan, and one sister, Ora Marie Phillips, of Springfield, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Scroggins and Loretta (Dilday) Trail, three sisters, one brother and Ralph and Velma (Dilday) Pierce, who raised him.
Funeral services for Edward Lee Scroggins will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 21, 2012 in Pitts Chapel, with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service, in the Chapel. Interment will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Aldrich, Missouri. with full Military honors.
