Eileen Bernice McMurray, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born on October 26, 1942, in Santa Paula, California, to John and Hazel Biggers. As a young girl, her family moved to West Plains, Missouri, where she graduated high school and began building a life rooted in love, resilience, and devotion to family.
Eileen met Jerry Keith in her early years, and together they raised four spirited sons. She also carried the memory of their baby daughter, who was stillborn but never forgotten. As a mother, Eileen was patient, devoted, and endlessly loving qualities that served her well while raising four rambunctious boys, especially during their daring adventures, like jumping off the barn roof using bed sheets as parachutes.
She had a true gift in the kitchen, an incredible cook and a talented baker who even made wedding cakes professionally for a time. Her green thumb brought forth an abundant garden each year, overflowing with fresh vegetables and care. She especially loved cheering her boys on at countless baseball games, always their biggest fan.
In 1975, Eileen moved to Springfield, Missouri, where she continued her journey of compassion and hard work. In 1987, she earned her LPN from Southern Missouri State University and went on to work at Maranatha Retirement Village. Later, she found her calling in private, in-home health care, where she cared for others with the same gentleness and dedication she gave to her own family.
In her later years, Eileen married Wayne McMurray, and together they enjoyed a well-earned retirement filled with travel, companionship, and simple joys. She was a member of Central Assembly of God in Springfield and lived out her faith in the way she cared deeply for others.
Eileen had a unique gift for adopting people into her heart. One of those was Anita Pryor, a special needs adult who became like a daughter to her. Though not legally adopted, Anita was fully embraced with Eileen’s love, care, and loyalty.
Those who knew Eileen will remember her as generous to a fault-always willing to lend a hand, give someone the benefit of the doubt, and open her heart, even when it got her into trouble. Her life was a beautiful example of grace, grit, and unwavering love.
The visitation will be at 10:00 a.m on Wednesday, July 2, 2025., with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will be at Payne Cemetery in Polk, Missouri, after the funeral service.
