Elaine Robinson, 77, of Houston, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, in Springfield.
She was born Dec. 7, 1935, in Dannevirke, New Zealand, daughter of Francis Olaf and Helen Hagan Thorsen. She and John Robinson were married in 1964 at Willimette Seventh-day Adventist Church in Illinois.
She immigrated to the United States in 1958. With an eighth grade education, she passed the entrance exams at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich. She majored in physical education and minored in French.
She was a member of Houston Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she played piano and prayed for her family, friends and the community.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and sewing.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, John Edgar Robinson; three daughters, Shannon Coleman of Houston, Eric Axt of Bothell, Wash., and Kerry DuVent of Seattle, Wash.; three great-granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.
Memorial services were Sunday, Sept. 8, at Houston Seventh-day Adventist Church.
