Elizabeth M. Walker, of Springfield, Mo., passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on May 16, 2010. She was born June 16, 1913, in Grovespring, Mo., to Otho and Grace Henderson.
After studying business at SMS and Draughns Business College, she met her lifelong partner, Attorney Wayne T. Walker. Her life was full helping Wayne with his career and being a full time homemaker and Mom to three children. She was active with Boys and Girls Club, Bar Association, and Republican Party of Springfield. An Award for outstanding service in the Republican Party was personally presented to Elizabeth and Wayne by President Dwight D. Eisenhower and were honored with a presidential reception.
Elizabeth was a member of Living Art Group of SMMA, Springfield., Porcelain Artists and past Chairperson of State Porcelain Painting Convention, and a member of Twin Oaks Country Club Golf Association.
She was preceded in death by husband Wayne T. Walker; parents Otho and Grace Henderson; brothers Ralph, Tom, Bill, Jack Henderson, and sister Lorenda Nehl. She is survived by her daughter Jane and husband Robert Thomas of Ozark, Susan and husband Dr. Jerry Kehr of Springfield, and son Wayne and wife Ann Walker of Lake of the Ozarks; seven grandchildren Cindy Byers, Trent and Lance Reynolds, Derrick Jones and Jenna McConnell, Keith Walker and Leslie Heinrichs; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and 15 nieces and nephews.
Service will be held in Greenlawn East Funeral Home, 3540 E. Seminole, Saturday, May 22, at 10 a.m. Chaplain Glyn Davies will officiate.
