Ellis Edward Hobbs, 92, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away at Christian Health Care on Friday morning, August 7, 2009.
Ellis was born in Longrun, Ozark County – Missouri, on November 14th , 1916. The son of Thomas Blain & Eliza (Hampton) Hobbs. Ellis was the third oldest of seven children.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Quenadeen Barner on December 13th, 1941. He is survived by his wife Evelyn and his daughters, Frances Hare of Weimar, CA, Nadene Smith of Roseville, CA and son Odell Hobbs of Springfield, MO. He is also survived by his brother, Rex Hobbs of McKinney, TX and sister Helen Gardner of Thornfield, MO.
Ellis retired from the U.S. Post Office in Sacramento, California in 1976. After retiring Ellis and Evelyn moved back to Springfield. He enjoyed country and western music, working and playing on his computer and getting together with family and friends.
Services will be held Tuesday, August 11th at 11:30 am at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole. Graveside service to follow at 1 pm, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening, August 10th, Greenlawn East from 6:00-8:00 pm.
