Elmer Joe Nichols, born August 31, 1934, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 2, 2020
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Queenie Nichols, brothers John E. Nichols, William T. Nichols; Sisters Ora Roberts, Betty Ketchell, Georgia Wathers, and son Dennis Hutton.
Elmer is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Nichols, sons and their wives, Elvin Joe Nichols and Larry and Judy Hutton, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Elmer served our great country in the Marines during the Korean conflict.
Elmer came to know our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in 1941. Elmer attended church with Mary at Crossway Baptist Church. Elmer loved sharing Christ's message of salvation with people he met, inviting people to church, and being an usher/door greeter at Crossway. Elmer's favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his begotten son, that whosoever believed in him, should not have perished, but have everlasting life.”
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2020, at Crossway Baptist Church, Springfield, MO. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour before services, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
