Elmo Jerry Schmidt, age 93, of Springfield, MO, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Magnolia Square. He was born November 11, 1916, in Treynor, IA, to Jerry and Mary (Clausen) Schmidt. He was united in marriage to Wylladene Eckert who preceded him in death on May 11, 2000 and to this union one daughter was born.
Elmo was a lifelong farmer who had a great love for horses. He loved to piddle around in his shop and find inventive ways to fix things. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter Jerry Sue Zimmerman and grandson, Trey Zimmerman both of Springfield. He was preceded in death by parents and a brother and sister.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Hazelwood Cemetery under the direction of Greenlawn South Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Compassus or left at the funeral home.
Jerry and Trey would like to thank Ravenwood Assisted Living and Magnolia Square Nursing Home for their patience and dedicated care of Elmo. In addition, they would like to thank their extended hospice family for their continued love and support through the years; and also, two special angels, Amy Smith and Deborah Peiffer for always being there.
