Elwood “Bert” Thornton passed away on September 15, 2012 at his long time home in Springfield, MO. Bert a World War II Veteran and retiree of Kraft Foods is survived by his wife of 58 years Faye and his son Dwain of Savannah, TX. He was a proud grandfather of Lori Milhizer of Savannah, TX and Eric Thornton of Phoenix, AZ and 6 great grandchildren;Haley, Jakob, McKenzie, Chloe, Mason and Grace. Bert has 2 surviving brothers; Burt and George of DeSota, MO and 2 sisters; Helen Cummings of Walnut Shade, MO, and Mary Jane Ates of St. Girardeau, MO. Bert was loved greatly and will be missed deeply. He is now with his Lord and Savior. Graveside services will be held Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery, Springfield, MO; under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
