Emma Fplethia (Parris) Probst
Emma Fplethia Probst, 88, of Springfield, MO passed away peacefully Saturday evening July 23, 2011 at Cox South Hospital. Emma was born June 10, 1923 in Kickapoo Township, Illinois to Frank and Gladys Parris.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Helen Schwartz and Homer Parris and one grandchild.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Albert; daughter Diana Lynn Spurlock; sons and spouses, David and Edith Probst, Dale and Regina Probst and Doneau and John Probst; sister Norma Jean Cruit; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Emma and Albert were united in marriage on December 19, 1946 in Bethany, Illinois after meeting while they both served in the Army. She was stationed at 57th WAC HC Mayo General Hospital from April 5, 1945 to October 11, 1946. She was a Medical and Dental Technician. During her time of service she met Albert Probst at the Mayo General Hospital. She lived in various places with her family mainly residing in Illinois. After retiring Emma and Albert moved to Springfield for their remaining years. She loved to crochet, do crafts and play on her computer; but mostly she liked to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 10:00 am in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
