Emmett (Buddy) Raymond Swearingin, husband, father, and grandfather, arrived in his heavenly home on November 3, 2023. He was 77 years young. He was born to Everett and Maude (Fleetwood) Swearingin on July 19, 1946. He married Treva (Hicks) Swearingin on October 13, 1972. Together they shared four children, Kent, Shone,
Carmela, and Buddy Lee.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Treva Swearingin; son, Shone Swearingin; His parents, Everett and Maude Swearingin; brothers, Jack Swearingin, Robert Swearingin, Charles Swearingin, and infant brother, Junior Lee Swearingin; sisters, Goldie Holley, and Shirley Holley. He is survived by his daughter, Carmela (Swearingin) Berry and husband, Jeff. His sons, Buddy Lee Swearingin and wife Christina; and Kent Anderson. Grandchildren: Mariah, Brandon, Tyler, Emily, Destiny, Dylan, Deavon, Lexi, Ellie, Ashley, Taylor, and Trevor. Great grandchildren: Emma, Elena, William, Priscilla, Emmett, Katerina, Enzo, and Emiliana. Emmett is a veteran of the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam war, where he was awarded the Bronze Star, for bravery and heroic acts, alongside his fellow soldiers.
Emmett was a teller of stories and made friends wherever he went. He loved going to auctions to look for treasures, or antique toys to share with his great grandchildren. He enjoyed watching
John Wayne westerns, and Hallmark Christmas movies. He always looked forward to spending time with family.
Graveside ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 10:00, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
