Funeral services for Ernest Robert Leatherman age 90 of Hollister, Missouri will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 13, 2010 at the Branson Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Gobblers Knob Cemetery in Hollister, Missouri under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson, Mo.
He died at 11:22 AM, Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Point Lookout Nursing and Rehab in Hollister, Mo.
Ernest was born on June 8, 1920 in Hollister, Missouri the son of Robert Franklin and Halah Frances Tharp Leatherman. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a power plant engineer at the College Of The Ozarks from 1952 until his retirement in 1984. He was an U.S. Army veteran of WWII, was a longtime member of the Boone County Masonic Lodge, the Abou Ben Adhem in Springfield, Mo., and was a member of the Branson Church of Christ.
Survivors are his five children: Jimmie Leatherman and wife Beverly of Lebanon, Mo., Judith Haefeker of Hollister, Jack Leatherman and wife Liz of Yellville, Arkansas, Glenda Stein of Nixa, Missouri and Jesse Leatherman and wife Dolly of Hollister, Mo. a brother, Lonnie Leatherman of Ozark, Mo., 3 sisters; Maxine Strahan of Kirbyville, Mo., Helen Etchison of Springdale, Arkansas and Wilma Tamboro of Sacramento, California, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elladean Holliday Leatherman, his parents, 2 sisters, Gladys Leatherman, Mildred Dixon 2 brothers, Owen and Jesse Leatherman, 1 grandchild, Christy Stein and 1 great grandchild, Jesse Girshner.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8:00 pm on Thursday at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson.
Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Fair Haven Children’s Home in Strafford, Missouri.
