Esther Leona Buckner, age 76, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Monday, March 14, 2011, in Cox Medical Center South. She was born May 17, 1934 to Fred and Bertha Phillips and married Bob, the love of her life, on December 21, 1952. She was also a member of Fremont Baptist Church.
Esther was a long time volunteer at Cox Hospital’s Dialysis Unit and touched many lives with her caring nature.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Buckner; son, Richard Buckner; daughter, Vicki Holbert and husband Jay; nephew, Wesley Phillips; and close friends, Sharon and Henry Blankenship, and Mary Ann Kenney.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, March 18, 2011, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with Pastor Tom White officiating. Burial will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday, March 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., also in the funeral home.
