It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eva Cynthia Woodring, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who passed into Glory on July 22, 2026 at 88 years of age, in Ava, Missouri. Born on February 1, 1938, in Battlefield, Missouri, to Thomas Edgar and Audie Anna (Shaw) Hargus, Eva lived a life full of selfless love towards her family and friends, dedication to her unshakeable Baptist faith and love for the Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Eva was cherished for her nurturing spirit and the warmth she brought to her family and community. A devoted mother to Cynthia Crews, a proud grandmother to Monica Chronister, Heath Crews, and Cassidy Bolling, and great-grandmother to 9 great-grandchildren, she imparted values of love and resilience that will endure in the hearts of those who knew her. Eva retired from General Electric in Springfield, MO after working there for over 20 years.  She loved people and conversations and seemed to never know a stranger.  She will be remembered for her big heart, warm loving smile, joyful laugh, and selfless acts of kindness to friends and family.  Eva found great joy in spending time with her sisters: Mary Jane Adams, Lena May Carpenter, Rosalea Kissee, Elizabeth McGinnis, and Joan Lincicome.  They were all very close and shared a deep fervent love for their families, antiques and flowers.  Eva and her sisters always made a point to make holidays full of food, family and memories.  Additionally, Eva and her late husband, Carl, owned an antique store in Fair Grove, MO, Old Mill Fleamarket.  This business was her hobby and drive to seek out the best antique bargains at countless garage sales and thrift stores.  She loved “the hunt.”  Eva also attended and was a member at Berean Baptist Church in the later years of her life.  Though not always able to attend services in person, she loved to watch the services online.  Eva loved gospel music immensely and was listening to it up unto the very day she passed.   Eva was passionate about growing all kinds of flowers and found immense joy and solace in her flourishing flower garden, fostering beauty and life through her steadfast care.

In celebrating Eva’s unforgettable and vibrant life, we invite family and friends to gather for a graveside service to honor her memory at Union Grove Cemetery in Fair Grove, Missouri, on July 29, 2026 at 10:00am.

Eva’s legacy will forever bloom in the love she cultivated in the hearts of her family and friends. May her memory continue to inspire us all to find beauty and joy in life’s simple pleasures, encourage us to love others more than ourselves, seek wisdom and guidance from God’s Holy Word, the King James Bible, and share the gospel with those who need to hear it.  She wanted John 3:16 as an epitaph, and seems fitting to share it here.  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son.  That whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life,” John 3:16 KJV.

Eva was preceded in death by her loving husband Carl Woodring in 2016, her sisters, Mary Adams of Ozark, MO in 2021, Lena Carpenter of Ozark, MO in 2024, Elizabeth McGinnis of Portland, OR in 2022, Rosalea Kissee of Ozark, MO in 2014, a half brother, Willard Holt, two infant brothers, her Mother Audie “Anna” (Shaw) Hargus and Father Thomas Hargus.  She is survived by her half sister, Joan Lincicome of LIvermore, California, brother in law Les Kissee and wife D.J. of Ozark, MO, daughter, Cindy Crews and husband Mark of Fair Grove, MO, grandchildren; Monica Chronister and husband Justin of Ava, MO, Heath Crews of Springfield, MO, Cassidy Bolling and husband Josh of Fair Grove, MO, nine great grandchildren (Jewel, Jade, Shelby, Baylea, Lincoln, Kaila, Karma, Angus, and Alton) and numerous other family and friends.
