Eva Mae (Gallion) Leach went to be with the Lord on November, 13, 2021. She was born July 4, 1934 to Grace (Palmer) and Oscar Gallion in Springfield, Missouri. Her parents had her dedicated, as an infant at the Central Assembly of God, where she was a lifetime member. She graduated from Springfield Senior High (Central High School) in 1952 and attended Central Bible College.
Eva married Rev. Robert Box in 1953. They pastored in Missouri, North Carolina, and Kansas where she was very involved with the music and teaching ministries of the church prior to moving to Santa Cruz, California where Bob taught at Bethany Bible College. Eva worked in the registrar’s office at Bethany, and later at the Northern California/Nevada Assemblies of God District Office. Bob became ill and passed away in 1972 while in Santa Cruz.
The family relocated to Springfield, and she was Director of Admissions at Evangel College for several years until her marriage to Rev. Willam J. Swain in 1981. They pastored in Hamburg, New Jersey and Front Royal, Virginia where she also served as principal of Royal Christian Academy. They returned to Springfield after retiring from full-time ministry. Eva then worked as Administrative Assistant to the Capital Campaign director of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, the Admissions office at Central Bible College, and as Secretary/Administrative Assistant to the president of Global University. During their time in Springfield, Bill battled a long illness and subsequently passed away in 2001.
After retiring from Global University, Eva had the opportunity to become re-acquainted with The Reverend Doctor Roscoe Leach (Bud). After a brief courtship, they were married in May, 2003. Bud was associate pastor at Christian Life Center in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Eva was very active in teaching, counseling, and other ministries of the church. After living there for one year, Bud retired from ministry and they returned to Springfield where they enjoyed many happy years together.
Her first husband, Robert Box, her second husband, William Swain, and his son, Steve, her mother, father, three brothers, and three sisters preceded her in death. Eva is survived by her husband, Roscoe (Bud) Leach, her children, Nancy Gamel, Stephen Box and wife, Lorraine, Patricia Patterson and husband Darold, Mark Box and wife Melanie, three step children Phillip Leach and wife Liz, David Leach, and Lisa Swain, along with 16 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
Her greatest desire was that all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren serve the Lord with all their hearts and would someday be together again in heaven. Memorial donations are suggested to Global University or Season’s Hospice.
