Evelyn was born on August 9, 1934, in Harrison, Arkansas, to Onis and Mary (Bidwell) Flippo. She was raised on the family farm in Omaha, AR, where she developed the strong work ethic that would define her life. At the age of 15, she married the love of her life, Lanno Cornelison, on June 13, 1950. Together they built a home and a family, raising two children: Joann and Larry
A talented seamstress, Evelyn worked for many years at the Crane Garment Factory before turning her craft into a home-based business, “Evelyn’s Blue Jean Shop,” where she created custom jeans for her loyal customers. After retiring, she and Lanno embraced the open road, traveling extensively in their RV and spending winters in Texas. Evelyn especially cherished the friends they made along the way and the bluegrass music that brought so much joy to her life.
Evelyn passed away peacefully from a stroke at Cox South Hospital on June 1st, 2025.
She is survived by her daughter, Joann Smith and husband Charles of Galena, Missouri; and daughter-in-law, Toni Cornelison of Crane, Missouri. Also her grandchildren: Daniel (Alisa) Cornelison, Matthew Cornelison, Isaac (Annette) Cornelison, Paul (Michelle) Cornelison, and Charla Smith; as well as eight great-grandchildren: Rylan, Reese, Courtney, Caymen, Cambryn, Isaac, Kayden, and Whitlee.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lanno Cornelison; her parents, Onis and Mary Flippo; her son, Larry Cornelison; infant daughter, Joyce Cornelison; and her sister, Eudell Scott.
