Evelyn Kay Summerfield (Bagwell), daughter of the late Eldon R. and Evelyn V. Bagwell was born on September 14, 1947 in Springfield, Missouri. She attended public schools and graduated from Central High School in 1965.
On November 22, 1969 she was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Angela Kay. On May 22nd, 1981 she married William Ray Summerfield (Bill) in Miami, Oklahoma. Kay loved God and attended church from early childhood, when her Grandpa and Grandma Bagwell would come by on Sundays to take her to church. She received Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized in 1975.
Kay loved her family and enjoyed spending time with all of them, including the get togethers with extended relatives throughout the years. She especially loved animals and was a “pet mom” for many different dogs throughout her life. She called her beloved schnauzer Riley an angel without wings. He gave her unconditional love in so many ways.
Kay is survived by her husband of 45 years Bill Summerfield, St. Augustine, Florida, her daughter Angela Kay Coleman (Darren), Port Orange, Florida, sister Sharon Brazeal of Springfield, Missouri, and brother Eldon Ray Bagwell (Betty) of Rogersville, Missouri. Nieces Aleshia Garrison, Katy, Texas, and Erin Cook (Brice), Rogersville, Missouri. Nephew Riley Bagwell (Ali and family), St. Paul, Minnesota. Great niece Lachelle Schulze (Robert and family), and great nephews Quintin Garrison (Claudia) and Zach Garrison. She was preceded in death by her parents Eldon and Evelyn Bagwell, maternal grandparents William Riley and Ethel McKinley, and paternal grandparents Elmer and Myrtle Bagwell, along with several beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm on Sunday, September 20th, 2026 at Greenlawn Funeral Home at 3506 N. National, Springfield. A memorial service will be September 21st, 2026 beginning at 8:30 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, Pastor Tom Maples officiating, followed by burial at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd, Springfield.
