Evelyn “Grams” Rayls, passed away peacefully in Branson, Missouri, on August 18, 2026, just eight days shy of her 100th birthday. Born on August 26, 1926, in Marysville, Kansas, Evelyn lived a life marked by dedication to family, service to others, and an enduring love for simple joys
Throughout her long life, Evelyn was known for her warmth, kindness and feisty spirit, qualities that endeared her to all who knew her. Her professional journey as a unit secretary at Cox Health Systems displayed her commitment to helping others, a commitment she carried into her volunteer work with the Red Cross, Victory Mission, and the local Bloodbank.
Evelyn’s interests were as colorful and nurturing as her spirit. She found joy in sewing, creating beautiful pieces that brought comfort and smiles to those around her. She also enjoyed tending to her flowers and garden, and she took great pleasure in the tranquility of nature. Camping trips were another of her delights, offering her cherished times with family under the open sky.
Family was the heart of Evelyn’s world. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ellis D. Rayls, and her three brothers, Joseph, Dean, and Albert Lawrence. Evelyn leaves behind her son David Rayls and daughter Karen Long and her husband, Ronald Long. She is also survived by six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
As per her wishes, no formal services will be held. Evelyn’s memory will be celebrated in the hearts of her family and friends, in the laughter shared around campfires, and in the blooms of the gardens she so lovingly tended.
“Grams” was a beacon of warmth and compassion, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Arrangements and cremation was under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson.
