Fern E. Gromer
An Angel on Earth became an Angel in Heaven. Fern E. Gromer, 99, departed this life at 3:00 a.m. Monday, October 22, 2012 in Cox South Hospital.
She was born in Pratt County, Kansas on November 16, 1912. She was the daughter of Purdy and Bernice King.
She had been a member of Broadway Baptist Church and was fondly known to her grandchildren as the “Cookie Grandma”.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Darrell; and her brother, Charles.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Staley; brother, Leland and Evelene King; four children and their spouses, Keith and Janie Gromer, Laurie, Mo., Dennis and Cynthia Gromer, Springfield, Mo., Dave and Darleen Snider, Willard, Mo., and Charles and Diane Black, Las Cruces, New Mexico; also nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Friday, October 26 at 10:00 a.m., with the Rev. Norman Noble officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
