Fern Elizabeth (Claxton) Robb, 89, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in James River Care Center. She was born December 8, 1921 in Buffalo, Mo., and was preceded in death by her father and mother, Odus Claxton and Amy (Neill) Claxton, and her husband, Fred Robb.
Fern is survived by daughter, Ann Wise, Springfield, Mo.; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two brothers, F.E. “Gene” Claxton of Springfield and Sam Claxton and his wife, Mary, of Nixa.
Fern was a 76 year faithful member of Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church joining in 1935. She especially enjoyed singing in the choir.
Fern was owner and operator of a Springfield restaurant for several years prior to her employment as a bookkeeper in 1959 for the John A. Morris Company. She then joined Bass Pro Company in 1977 and had the distinction of being the first employee. She retired in 1999.
Funeral services will be held in Greenlawn East Funeral Home on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 3 P.M. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Mo.,
Friends may visit from 5 to 7 P.M., Thursday in the funeral home.
