Fern Marie Chittenden Collins was born December 30, 1935 in Halfway MO to Horace and Fay Chittenden. Fern went to her heavenly home on November 13, 2025 at the age of 89 at Mercy Hospital Springfield MO.

Fern graduated from Halfway High School in 1954. She then pursed a degree in nursing graduating from Nursing School at Mercy in 1957. She worked on the pediatric floor and in 1960 she went to work for Dr. E.L. Clayton.

Fern was saved and joined Scholfield Missionary Baptist Church as a young girl. She then later moved her membership to True Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield MO.

Fern married Charles Collins on February 6, 1972 in Halfway MO and they were married for 40 years. They had two children, a son Ray and daughter Debbie.

Fern enjoyed spending time with family, going to auctions, flea markets, swap meets, and spoiling her grandson Nathan.

Fern is preceded in death by her parents Horace and Fay Chittenden, husband Charles Collins, brother and sister in law Cecil and Ruth Chittenden, brother and sister in law Dean and Donna Chittenden, niece Marilyn Oglesby, and nephew Jim Chittenden.

Fern is survided by her son Ray Collins and wife Cindy of Strafford, daughter Debbie Collins of Springfield, grandson Nathan and wife Rachel Collins of Springfield, and great granddaughter Abigail Collins. Along with nieces, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday November 17th from 5-7 and funeral on Tuesday at 10:00 on November 18th at Greenlawn North. Burial will be followed at Scholfield Missionary Baptist Church in Halfway MO.
