Floyd Blue, 98, of Springfield, passed away at home on December 4, 2020 in Springfield. Floyd was born to Pete and Elizabeth Blue on April 10, 1922, in Kansas City, Kansas. Elizabeth won $50.00 when Floyd was a baby for being the cutest baby in all of Kansas City.
Floyd was a member of South Haven Baptist Church since 1960, he was a member of the Electrical Union 453 for over 75 years. He retired as a union electrician in 1982. He enjoyed fixing up old lawn mowers with his brother Paul. He helped out his friends from church and the neighborhood. Floyd enjoyed camping, his church, playing cards, fishing, and telling tall tales.
He is survived by his wife Freida of the home, 1 son Bryan of Conway, AR, 2 step-daughters, Beverly Purcell and Barbara Lane, one daughter-in-law, Pam Blue of Olathe, KS,; one sister, Evelyn McCann of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Elizabeth; five brothers, Oren, John, Harold, Wesley, and Paul Blue; one sister, Harriet Gourset; his 1st Collen; and one son Charles Blue.
A celebration of life for Floyd will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Greenlawn Funeral Home South with a visitation from 12 pm 1 pm, Wednesday in the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Richwood Cemetery in Christian County, MO.
