Floyd L. Gregory
Floyd L. Gregory, age 80, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Sunday, December 27, 2009, at Cox Medical Center South. He was born July 26, 1929, in Daisy, Ark., to William and Leona (Jackson) Gregory. He was a member of Central Assembly of God. Floyd retired from the Springfield Public School System after 26 years of being a teacher and principal. Floyd was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving during the Korean War. He will always be remembered for his walks throughout the neighborhood where he was affectionately known as the “Can Man”. His parents, William and Leona Gregory, granddaughter Summer Perry, brother Vernon Gregory, and sister Geneva Golden preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Elnora Gregory of Springfield; two children, Brenda Perry and husband, Mark of Springfield; Terry Gregory and wife, Sandy of Springfield; three grandchildren Matt Perry, Carissa Shoen and Angela Hudson; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Lindsey Hudson; two sisters, Barbara Cook of Daisy, Ark., and Reda Ledbetter of Murfreesboro, Ark., and a host of friends and family. Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 31, 2009, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with Rev. Hubert Morris officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
