Our mother, Frances Eggleston, passed away June 14, 2012 in Springfield, Missouri. She was born January 6, 1919 to John Raymond and Gladys Ring Madsen in Morristown, South Dakota. She was the oldest of four children. She lived in Haynes, Bowman and Marmarth, North Dakota before moving to Mandan, North Dakota where she graduated from Mandan High School. She attended St. Benedict Catholic College in St. Joseph, Minnesota, majoring in drama. Frances played the lead role of Jane Eyre as well as acting in other plays in the Minneapolis Theatre.
She married and settled in Bismarck, North Dakota. Frances enjoyed horseback riding, playing bridge, dancing and was active in the Petroleum Wives Club. She was known for her great sense of humor and had a special talent for making others laugh. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters Polly Blanton Boucard and Amy Blanton Allen. She lived in many places in the United States before moving to the Springfield, Missouri area.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Howard. Her husband Robert Eggleston passed away on April 6, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Gladys Madsen; her brother Richard Madsen, her sister Marie Skjod and brothers-in-law Delbert Skjod and Chris Dahl.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Polly and Gueric Boucard, Leakey, Texas and Amy and Marcus Allen, Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Garrick Boucard, Natalie Boucard, Maggie Allen and Grant Allen; her sister and brother-in-law Nonnie and Albert Craychee, stepchildren Robert and Louise Eggleston, Nancy and Thomas O’Connor and Deborah and Robert Gillette, and many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Yerra, the staff at Lakewood Assisted Living and Mercy Hospice for their excellent care.
Memorial service will be June 18, 2012 at 6:00 pm at Greenlawn East Funeral Home and graveside service and burial will be at the Mandan Union Cemetery in Mandan, North Dakota at a later date.
