Frances Marguerite “Ginger” (Stacye) O’Connor, 91, passed away February 24, 2015 at the Ash Grove Health Care Facility. She was born on December 23, 1923 to Madeline and George Stacye. She married Terrance O’Connor on July 20, 1946 and he preceded her in death on November 27, 2006
Marguerite worked as a window trimmer for Heers, in retail at the old Three Sisters store on the Springfield City Square and for the Springfield Park Board where she taught ceramics at the old Northview Senior Citizens Center. During World War II she worked as a “Grey Lady” at the O’Reilly Hospital now part of the Evangel University campus. She was always active in volunteering and she loved to garden. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She had a generous heart and was a special lady who loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and one sister
She is survived by her children, Terry O’Connor Jr. and his wife Shirley, Tim O’Connor and his wife Shiella, Kathy (O”Connor) Giggy and her husband Larry, and a sister, Patty Garoutte and her husband Bob. She was Grandma to six grandchildren and Greatma to ten great-grandchildren with one on the way, many nieces and nephews
Her family wishes to extend a very special “thank you” to the wonderful staff at the Ash Grove Health Care Facility and CMH Hospice for their wonderful care of Marguerite and her family.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 12:30 until 2:30 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home North Chapel
Graveside Service will take place on Saturday at 3:00 pm at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations to be made to CMH Hospice or donor’s choice; envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
