Frank Joseph Fuzzell was born in Springfield, Missouri, on March 4, 1915, and passed away at his daughter’s (Erin Bivins) home in Springfield at 12:03 am on December 3, 2011. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Rebecca “Becky” (Martin) Fuzzell; his infant still-born son, Mark Joseph; his parents, Claud E. Fuzzell, and Justina “Lucy” (Wrobleska) Fuzzell; four sisters: Matilde “Tillie” Gray; Hazel Trago; Agnes Wood; and Therese McKinney. Frank is survived by two daughters, Erin Bivins, son-in-law, Chet Bivins of Springfield; Allida Boles and son-in-law, Mike Boles of Ozark; three grandsons, three granddaughters, eleven great-grandchildren, and sixteen great-great-grandchildren, as well as many friends and acquaintances.
Frank was a life long resident of Springfield. He served in WWII as a Navy ship fitter in the New Heberdes area of the conflict. He received an honorable discharge on November 14, 1945 and resumed his career as a locomotive engineer for the Frisco Railway Company from which he retired on April 30, 1980. Frank was part of Tom Brokaw’s Greatest Generation and was truly the “Greatest of the Great”.
Graveside service will be held on December 6, 2011, Tuesday, at White Chapel Cemetery at 2:00 pm, with full Military Honors.
