Frankie Lee Bills, 87, Springfield, passed away February 17, 2024, at Cox Hospital, with family and friends surrounding him. Frankie Lee Bills, 87, Springfield, passed away February 17, 2024, at Cox Hospital, with family and friends surrounding him.
Frankie was born in Chelsea, OK, on December 13, 1936, to Gurry Alford and Willa Daisy (Creed) Bills. He was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Adams on August 16,1959.
Frankie was a faithful member of Hamlin Baptist Church for 73 years. His activities included assisting his brother-in-law, Richard Lindsey in the PA Booth for 28 years, working with his wife, Beverly, in a Children’s Sunday School Department and helping in the Treasury room as needed.
He was employed by the Springfield News and Leader for many years before going to work for Harry Cooper Supply Company. He worked there until he retired.
Frankie was blessed with a competitive spirit whether it was playing fast-pitch softball, fishing, golfing, or attending the MSU Lady Bears games. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Frankie was also dedicated to keeping a well-manicured yard, and a clean polished vehicle.
Frankie was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers and their wives, three sisters and their husbands, one brother-in-law, five nephews and one niece.
Frankie is survived by his sister Susie Nease and husband Paul, brother Gary Bills and wife Glenna, sister Sandy Lindsey and husband Richard, and sister Donna Scott. Sister-in-law Debby Bader and husband Arnie. In addition, he is survived by a host of nephews and nieces, also his best friends Rollie and Donna Warren.
Visitation will be Friday, February 23, 2024, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Hamlin Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hamlin Baptist Church Building Fund, or the charity of your choice.
