Freda Virginia Follis, 88, Ozark, was born on August 14, 1926 in Jordon, Illinois, the daughter of Francis J. and Helen (Hansen) Sauers and died March 17, 2015 at Manor Care, Springfield, MO.
Freda worked as a registered nurse in Springfield, IL. until moving to Chadwick in 1972 where she resided until 2012. She then lived with her daughter in Ozark.
She loved animals, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, and a good cup of coffee. A dear friend gave the best tribute about Freda saying, “She was the gentlest soul I ever met.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wendell, and two sisters, Marjorie McDaniel and Mary Ely.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Meadows, son-in-law, Dave, and granddaughter, Autumn, of Ozark, MO; step-daughter, Debra Mertz, of Springfield, IL; two sisters, June Baker of Springfield, IL, and Kathryn Bottrell of Decatur, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
The family is extremely grateful to the staff at Manor Care and Season’s Hospice for treating Mom like royalty. If you wish to honor Freda’s memory, please bless the charity of your choice, do a good deed, or thank someone in the caregiving field. This will ensure the kindness she showed will continue.
