Freddie Lee Stone, age 83, of Springfield, Mo., left this world suddenly on November 12th, 2011, doing what he loved best, hunting with his son, grandson, great-grandson, and his hunting buddies. Fred was born on September 5, 1928, in Fayette, Mo. to Mack and Luerenda Stone. He accepted the Lord into his heart and was baptized at the age of 8. He met the love of his life Betty Rosetta Saltkill in 1946 at the Mozart Theatre. They were united in marriage on November 15, 1947. To this union, they were blessed with two sons, Bert and Jay.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Jay; 3 sisters; and 3 brothers.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Rosetta Stone; a son, Bert Stone and his wife Donnis; a grandson, Mike Stone and his wife Lesa; a granddaughter, Michelle Brooks and her husband Jason; 3 great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Tara and Katie Brooks, and Kyle Stone; 3 step great-grandchildren; a longtime “sister” to he and Rosetta, Louise King; an “adopted” granddaughter Kristina and her husband Chris Brown, and family; a niece Judy Miller, of Fayette, Mo; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Fred (Grandpa) truly loved everything about life, especially his family, and he showed it every day. He will be truly missed and forever loved by his family and all the lives he touched in his wonderful 83 years.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, Mo. Interment will follow the service in Eastlawn Cemetery.
