Gary Allan Hulsey, born May 20, 1955, in Berwyn, Illinois, to Theodore, Jr. and Dolores Hulsey, passed away August 27, 2026, leaving behind a life filled with love, laughter, family, adventure, and countless memories that will be treasured by all who knew and loved him.

Gary went to school in Springfield, Missouri, where he graduated from Glendale High School. On March 15, 1975, he married the love of his life, Teresa, in Illinois. Together, they raised their family and shared many wonderful years side by side.  Gary worked as a Tool and Die Maker for General Electric in Springfield before retiring. He also served his community as a Battlefield firefighter, first responder, Water Rescue and Dive Team member, and City Council member. He later continued helping others as a paramedic with St. John’s Ambulance Service and as a flight paramedic. Gary was always someone people could count on.

He enjoyed gadgets, motorcycles, water skiing, camping at Table Rock Lake, cheering on his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs, and attending church at James River. Above all, he loved God, his family, and spending time with those he loved.

Those who knew Gary will remember him most for his incredible ability to fix just about anything, his unmistakable sense of humor, and the deep love he had for his family and his dog. He was also incredibly determined. When Gary set his mind to something, there was very little that could stand in his way. He would figure it out, find a way, and make it happen.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Theodore “Ted” Hulsey; his mother, Dolores Hulsey; his brother, Terry Hulsey; and his grandson, Avery.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa; his children, Lisa Holland (Sam) and Mike Hulsey (Kristin); his grandchildren, Ceceley Clifton (Dustin), Maddy Hulsey, and Eian Hulsey; his great-granddaughter, Avaia Clifton; and his brothers, Robert, Jerry, and David.

Gary will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. While his absence will be felt in countless ways, his laughter, stories, traditions, determination, and love will continue to live on in the people whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be held 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 4, 2026, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East.  A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 a.m., in the funeral home.  Inurnment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Springfield, Missouri.
