Gary (Tailgunner) Edward Hake, 77, of Springfield MO passed away Wednesday, November 23 at the home he shared with his loving daughter Marsha Sutton.
Gary was in born on May 9, 1945 in Muscatine Iowa, to Maxine and Edward Hake. He served his country in the United States Army and worked as a city utilities lineman, Shaklee sales representative, and over-the-road truck driver to provide food, shelter, and opportunity for his family. Gary loved the Lord and praised Him with this gift of music throughout his life. He would always entertain a cup of coffee with a story and a couple jokes. A chronically stubborn man, he stood by his convictions and loved his friends and family passionately. His smile was infectious and his kindness obvious to all who spent time around him. He enjoyed music, the outdoors, hunting, going fishing hoping to fill a stringer, and a good meal with loved ones-preferably steak or fried bass.
While attending a tent revival in Wapello Iowa, he met his 1st wife and mother of his children, Patsy Ann Wolfe. After the passing of Patsy, he fell in love with and married Kelly Denise Mitchell. He is preceded in death by his parents Maxine and Edward Hake, wives Patsy and Kelly, brother Sam Hake, brother-in-law Ronnie Cummins, and brother-in-law Tonny Wolfe.
He is mourned by sister Nancy Cummins, brother Randy and wife Roxie Hake, brother Russel and wife Cindy Hake, sister-in-law Loreta Hake, sister-in-law Marilyn Wolfe, daughter Marsha Sutton, son Joshua Hake, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Although he lived for the Lord, his family was the light of his life.
Memorial services will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E Seminole St, Springfield, MO 65809, on Tuesday, November 29th. Visitation will begin at 1pm, followed by funeral at 2pm.
