Gary Gene Vaughn, age 61, of Springfield, Mo died October 23, 2013 at Cox Medical Center South.
Gary was born on January 27, 1952 in Springfield, the son of Andrew Gilbert and Verna Lofton Vaughn. He graduated from Central High School in 1970, and served 6 years with the U.S. Navy-Reserves as a medical Corpsman stationed with the Marines.
He was married to Ramona “Sulser’ Vaughn, August 10, 1973 in Ellington, MO.
He was a computer technician. He provided moulage instruction for Greene County Emergency Management and participated in several emergency drills. He received the Governor’s award for community Service for his volunteer service to victims of the 1993 floods.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a twin infant brother Larry Dean.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ramona; sons, Jason and Jennifer Vaughn; Eric and Tanya Willhite. Grandsons Nicholas and Brendan Vaughn, a sister Becky and husband Ron Lawson, Uncle Kenneth and wife Eva Lofton, aunt Harriet and husband Robert Jones, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn North Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
