Gene Press died February 13, 2013 at the age of 74. He was at home surrounded by his family and went home to Jesus to the music of the Gaither videos.
Gene is survived by his wife, Susie Ellis Press. Survivors also include his sons and their wives, Mike (Daphne), Bob (Christina), and Steve (Sally) Press. Survivors also include grandchildren Allison, Blake (Lacy), Alaina, Abagail, Joshua, Kali and Brielle Press. John Press, Gene’s brother, also survives.
Gene was a member of Brighton Assembly of God in Brighton, Missouri. Gene’s heart was to serve the Lord Jesus. He served as a missionary to the Marshall Islands, went on mission trips, and served in multiple capacities at the church. Gene was the building superintendent and surrogate “Grandpa” for the Master’s Commission kids of Springfield, MO. Gene volunteered at Convoy of Hope to help those in times of need. In the last years, he served by helping the elderly as “Rent-A-Husband”.
Gene loved fishing, golfing, and most of all enjoying his grandkids on his dream property in Missouri.
A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m on March 9, 2013 at Brighton Assembly, 5403 North Highway F, Brighton, Missouri 65617, with a memorial potluck, sing along, and open mic night. All are invited to eat (Gene loved potlucks), sing love songs to Jesus, and share their memories of Gene at the “open mic”. Gene did request balloons at his graduation to his mansion in heaven celebration. Gene also said he will be waiting for us there.
