Geneva Forestine Jarvis, age 87, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011 in Cox Medical Center South. She was born January 1, 1924, in Springfield, Mo., to John and Lily (Vandiver) Howard.
Geneva was united in marriage to Melvin Clyde Jarvis in October of 1942 in Springfield, Missouri. She was a member of the National Heights Baptist Church. Geneva retired from Liliy-Tulip after twenty years of service. Geneva was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who always put her family and others first. She loved the Lord, and served him by serving others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Richard and Lily Howard; one sister, Ruth Hamby; three brothers, Christopher Howard, Earl Howard, and Wilbur Howard; and a sister-in-law, Alma Howard.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Melvin Jarvis, of Springfield; four children, Melvin Richard Jarvis and wife Marcia Rauwerdink, of Nixa, Linda Paris and husband Stephen, of Springfield, Cynthia Day and husband Gordon, of Strafford, Anita Lea and husband Roger, of Rogersville; eight grandchildren, Geoffrey and Rachel, Jennifer and Terry, Jaqueline and Kim, Todd and Catherine, Timothy, Lynn and Michael, Justin, Stephanie and Tony, 14 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Susanna, Austin, Dakota, Tyler, Eric, Zachary, Nathan, Brynn, Katelyn, Meagan, Michael, Miles, and Gwendolyn.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2011, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield with Reverend Vaughn Weatherford officiating. Burial will be held in will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens . Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home or Charity of Donors Choice.
