Geneva (Cunningham) Odem passed away July 7, 2011 at St. John’s hospital in Springfield. She was born in Elkland, Missouri and lived in Springfield all of her adult life. Geneva worked for over 25 years as a tax preparer for H & R Block and was very active in the Ozark Winnies camping club with her husband Bob Odem until his passing in 2007. Geneva enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with family.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) of 58 years; her parents Ralph & Iva Cunningham; and one sister, Gene Cunningham. Geneva is survived by two children and their spouses: Shelley (Odem) Stokes & Jim, Springfield, Missouri and Gary Odem & Sharon, Joplin, Missouri. ; four grandchildren and their spouses Tony Stokes, Jamie (Stokes) Howell & Jason, Stacy (Odem) Gambill & Gary, Zackery Odem & Jamie. Geneva is also survived by the delights of her life, five great-grand children who affectionately called her “GG”: Ronin, Arden & Havah Gambill and Sydnie & Lukas Howell all of Springfield. Geneva is also survived by one brother, Billy Cunningham and two sisters, Dorothy Albaugh and Mattie Rowland.
A celebration of Geneva’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 12th beginning at 10:00 AM at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 W. Battlefield, with burial following at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Elkland, Missouri. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6pm-8pm, July 11th at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Parkinson Foundation in care of the funeral home.
