Mr. George Earle Martin, age 77 of Bolivar, MO, passed away August 25, 2010 in St. John’s Health Center in Springfield, MO. He was born March 15, 1933 in Los Angeles, CA to Ralph Eugene and Esther Elizabeth (Thompson) Martin. He was a United States Air Force Korean Conflict Veteran, a retired manager in the electronics industry and most recently a Wal-Mart in Bolivar associate. On July 5, 1955 he was united in marriage to Martha Ellen Marshall and to this union three children were born.
George was a voracious reader with many interests. Some of which included obtaining his pilot’s license, space, arrowheads, rock and meteorite collections. He loved to garden and make people laugh. He was a big practical joker, which many can testify to. He was able to find humor in most things and was a positive thinker. He always expected the best, but planned for the worse. George would of wanted people not to mourn or be sad. He often said, “Life goes on and live it to the fullest”.
George was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Ralph Martin.
He leaves his wife of 55 years Martha of the home; 1 daughter Sherry French of Round Rock, TX; 2 sons George Earle Martin & his wife Cindy of Burbank, CA; Glenn Edwin Martin & his wife Amy of Dillingham, AK; and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. George Earle Martin are 11:00 AM Monday August 30, 2010 in Pitts Chapel with Chaplain James Friend officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM.
