George Edward Williams was born May 22, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri to Chester U. and Esther Naomi Race Williams. He passed away January 8, 2017 in his home.

George's family moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1935. George attended Springfield Public Schools, graduating from Senior High School (now known as Central High School), and obtained his Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences from Drury University. While he was completing his degree, he held a position as a Disc Jockey at KICK Radio, where he met his wife of 62 years, June Eileen Martin. He had an outstanding singing voice, and sang with the Downtowners and the Johnny Mac Orchestra.

George served his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1956. Always the entrepreneur, George began his own manufacturing company in 1960, developing, among many superior products, the first High Pressure Car Wash Detergent manufactured in the central United States. He was well respected in the business community, operating the company for 38 years.

As George's young family grew, he built them a home – a unique structure filled with his own ideas and designs, including an indoor waterfall. The home was featured in the Springfield newspaper.

George was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church, earlier in his life at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, and up to the time of his death at Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he served as Deacon and Elder. He was active in the choir in both churches.

George was predeceased by his parents, and sister Norma June Bonar and her husband Arlie. He is survived by his wife, partner and best friend, June Eileen Williams of the home; daughters Lisa Robbins (Dan), Nixa, Missouri, and Libby Williams, Denver, Colorado; granddaughters Courtney Whitaker, Rogersville, Missouri, and Catherine Creach, Nixa, Missouri; grandsons Grant and Garrett Livingston; great granddaughter Gracelyn Livingston, Denver, Colorado; brother Phillip (Jeannie) Williams, St. Charles, Missouri; nephew Scott (Lindsay) Williams and great nephews Nathan and Caleb Williams, St. Charles, Missouri.

He was always a jokester and full of fun; his many friends and relatives will miss his jovial personality, wit and positive attitude. To say his was a life well lived is an understatement!

A Memorial Service will be held at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2441 South Lone Pine, Springfield, Missouri at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. George requested that his earthly remains be donated to the University of Missouri Gift of Body Program. Private burial will be held at Wesley Cemetery in the family plot at a later date.
