Gerald Mason “Jerry” Causey of Republic, MO passed away on March 12, 2024, at home after a 6 month battle with Lung Cancer/COPD. He was 79 years old. Jerry was born to Gerald E. and Mary Josephine (Barnhart) Causey on May 23, 1944, in Bonne Terre, Mo. He grew up in the Flat River, MO area attending Esther Schools, where he graduated in 1962. He attended Drury University in Springfield, MO for a short time.
The family moved to the Hollister, MO area in 1963 to open a Souvenir/Gift Shop. Jerry went into business with his parents opening Tomahawk Trading Post. As the area grew with tourists, other business ventures were pursued, including other shops, Wholesale Jewelry sales, and a storage facility for boats, RV’s, and mini storage on the road to Table Rock State Park. He obtained his Real Estate License. He was ahead of his time and was always brainstorming new business ideas, he had a vision for the future. He was gifted at drawing plans and designing almost anything. He enjoyed people, was a member of the JC’s, Branson Bass Club, Bowling League, and was an avid card player, and played weekly.
He and his wife of 58 years relocated to Republic in 2016 after retiring from his business operations in the Branson area where he had been for more than 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn Sue (Hedgepeth) Causey; son Bradley Mason Causey and wife Anna Marie (Hopkins) Causey; daughter, Jennifer Lynn (Causey) Bair; four grandchildren, Austyn Bair, Tanner Bair and wife Healey, Allison Bair, and Emma Hopkins; one great grandchild, Louis Bair; other survivors include one sister, Gail Ellen Causey; 5 nephews and their families, as well as many dear friends, neighbors, and acquaintances that are mourning his loss.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at Greenlawn South Funeral Home, 441 West Battlefield, Springfield, MO on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 2-4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
