Gilbert Alanzo Perkins, age 86 went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 21st.
He was born July 25, 1923 in Galena, Missouri the son of Earl & Nellie (Price) Perkins.
He and Dorothy Lee Foland were united in marriage November 10, 1944 having over 65 years together.
Gilbert retired after 40 years with Frisco and Burlington Northern Railroad.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Gilbert became a Christian at age 19, and served faithfully in the churches they attended through the years.
He was attending the Billings Assembly of God Church at the time of his passing.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy, daughter Patsy, and her husband Russ Turney. Three grandchildren:
Mark Turney and wife Victoria living in Namibia, Africa; Nathan Turney and wife Lisa in Springfield (missionaries
to Asia Pacific); and Rebekah Crosby and husband David who pastor a church in Mt. Pocono, Pennsylvania;
nine great-grandchildren, brother E.J. Perkins and wife Martha of Galena, MO; two sisters, Annabelle Hembree of
Highlandville, MO; Louella Clement and husband Clarence of Spokane, MO; two sister-in-laws Evelyn Perkins of
Lampe, MO, Joan Perkins of Nixa, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Glenda, and two brothers, Robert and Delbert.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 10:00 am at Greenlawn Funeral Home South with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 9:00 am at the funeral home.
