Gloria left this life for heaven on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. She passed peacefully at Springfield Villa Care Center.
Born August 13, 1936 at home in Springfield MO, She was the second daughter of James W. and Mabel Alice Black. Born only 13 months younger than her sister Teresa (Litle), they were close for life.
She attended Sacred Heart and Bowerman Elementary Schools, Reed Jr High and Central High School. She became an accomplished roller skater at Doling Park collecting medals in both figure skating and on a relay race team.
She raised 5 children and always mourned the loss of an infant son, Mark Hall.
Gloria worked for one year as a nurse’s aide at St John’s (now Mercy) Hospital and loved the work feeling she was helping others. She also worked part-time at the Christian Foundation stores and Holiday Lanes.
An avid and devoted bowler, Gloria won a number of tournaments often teaming with her sister Teresa Litle.
Gloria worked to support her church, mental health agencies, and joyously sang with a senior choir (Young at Heart) for over 15 years. She loved bingo, playing cards and reading her bible, gardening and decorating, strawberry ice-cream and Dr. Pepper.
Gloria said she was many things: a daughter, sister, wife and mother and grandmother. She excelled as a skater, bowler, seamstress, botanist, interior decorator and, most of all, a faithful servant of God.
She looked forward to seeing Jesus in heaven and being reunited with parents James W and Mabel A Black; husbands Gayle Hall, and Herbert Weaver; son Mark Hall; and sister Teresa Litle and many friends and family.
She is survived by 5 children – daughters Teresa ‘Terry’ (Hall) Hosler of Richmond KY (Dane) , Carol (Weaver) Meador of Independence MO (Bruce), Tracy (Hall) Sanders of Menifee CA (Gary) and sons Harold Weaver of Springfield MO (Cindy), and Scott Weaver of Walnut Grove, MO (Trisha) as well as 5 beloved grandchildren Jason Hosler (Sherry), Amy Green (Josh), Kristie Fentanes, Rowyn Hosler (Daniel), Adrian Hosler (Bobby). She celebrated 6 great-grandchildren – Temperance ‘Tempy’, Harper, Marshall, Eleanor, Mateo and Logan. She is also survived by Brother-in-law Carl Litle and nieces Kelley Litle (David) and Robyn Litle.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 5:00-6:00 pm at Greenlawn North Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wednesday, August 9, 2026 at 10:00 am.
