Grant Eugene Burks, 88, of Springfield, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Jan. 28, 2011 in St. Johns in Springfield. He was born on Sept. 3, 1922. Grant was the second child of Eddie Otto Burks and Laura (Tella ) Burks. He was retired from Custom Trailers as a welder.
Grant married Myrtle Mann Bishop on May 29, 1978. He attended Brown Avenue Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Otto and Laura Burks; two sisters, Faye Stroud and Norma “Dickie” Daniels; and a brother, Joe “Toby” Burks.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; step-daughter, Teri Dimmitt and husband Jeff, of Willard, Mo.; six grandchildren, Ryan Baxter and wife Ericka, Jenny Becerril and husband Erik, Leslie McThompson, Jared Dimmitt and fiance Jenna, Kyle Baxter, and Kayla Dimmitt; 11 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Raymond Daniels; sister-in-law, Connie Burks; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, from 7 to 8 p.m., in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Graveside services will be held Fri., Feb. 4, 2011 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, with Reverend Ralph Noble officiating. Grant “Papaw” will be greatly missed.
