Gwen A. Steele, 79, joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday evening, February 7, 2012, following an extended illness in her home. Born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, on August 22, 1932, Gwen was the youngest of seven children and married Don Markley Steele in Harrison, Arkansas in 1950.
Gwen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. During her working career, she served as Vice President of Commerce Bank of Willard.
Gwen is survived by her husband, Don, of Sprigfield, MO; four sons: Mark Steele and wife Jana of Springfield, MO, Tim Steele of Raymore, MO, Kent Steele and wife Marsha of Springfield, MO, and Keith Steele and wife Judy of Rolla, MO. She was greatly loved by her four granddaughters: Lyndi Proctor of Marshfield, MO, Tiffany Steele of Chula Vista, CA, Dani Steele of Kirksville, MO, and Jeni Steele of Rolla, MO, and by her three grandsons, Dustin Steele of Altus, OK, Jason Steele of Republic, MO, and Ryan Steele of Springfield, MO, as well as six great-grandchildren: Carin, Alana, Audrey, Braden, Addison, and Maverick. Her loving smile will be missed by her family and many friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 11, 2012, in Greenlawn Funeral Home East, with Dr. John Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the funeral home.
