Harold L. Carter was born in Springfield, on September 30, 1922, to Lester and Mary Carter. He passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 in St. John’s Hospital.
He graduated from Springfield High School in 1940. He served in the South Pacific during WW II in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was able to participate in the Ozarks Honor Flight, in June of 2010. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service, in 1984 and was an active member of the Willard Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, his family, and holiday dinners.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters. On April 11, 1943 he was married to Joanna Kithcart, and to this union, four children were born. He is survived by his wife Joanna, four children and their spouses; Patrice (Ed) Stamps, Cynthia (Rick) Day, John (Sue) Carter and Sue (Ted) Montgomery; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 23,2011, at 3:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with burial to follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Willard Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church; 800 South State Highway AB, Willard, Mo. 65781, St. John’s Hospice, or any church of their choice.
