Harold Taylor born on February 14, 1926 at Parkers Lake, KY raised in Clinton,IL went to be with the Lord Thursday July 10, 2014 at 9:10 am at his daughters home in Springfield, MO. Harold joined the Army/Aircorps after leaving HS to become a machinist apprentice for the Illinois Central Rail Road. He married the love of his life Naomi Ruth Fitts on May 15, 1948. At that time he worked for the Clinton Water Dept. He was a civil servant and a member of the National Guard. He served as deacon and various offices for the Assemblies of God churches in Clinton, IL; Springfield, MO, and Robinson, IL. He also served as a Sunday school teacher and Royal Rangers leader/mentor. He was proud to be an advisory council member of the Handyman Club of America. He was a respected representative of the Textile Workers Union at Owens Corning Fiberglass from which he retired as Maintenance Operations Supervisor. He continued to work as Master of many trades. Harold spent his life in Clinton, IL; Springfield, MO; and Palestine, IL and had his fingers in many pies. His favorite hobby was photography and he loved his candid shots. His sons David and Ron, grandson Ashel Huston and granddaughter Katie Imes share his love of photography. He enjoyed music and instilled an appreciation for all types of music to those around him. All of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play a musical instrument or sing. Harold loved spending time with his family fishing, camping and swimming. He was the biggest fan of his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting adventures. He especially enjoyed his granddaughter Krystine Rodden who was like a daughter to him, jump hurdles. He was an Arborist and was an enthusiastic gardener. Harold was the spirit of generosity; a man who would stop what he was doing at any time to help his friends, family or a complete stranger and gave without expectation. Harold was preceded in death by his parents Elmer Sr and Mae (Souleyrette) Taylor and his siblings Leroy, Willie Greene, Dorothy Estes, Owen, Ruth Lowe, Pearl Gaffron, and daughter-in-law Lori Larsen-Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Naomi Ruth Fitts, his brothers; Elmer Jr (Squeak) of Weldon, IL and Lawrence of Clinton, IL, his children; Kathy (George) Crabtree of Branson, MO, Harold David (Shirley) Taylor of Clinton,IL , Ronald Taylor of Princeton, IL, Verda Younker of Sparta, MO, Ellen (David) Conley of Springfield, Mo, Roberta Schildwachter of Springfield, MO also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families too numerous to list individually but all extremely loved for their individuality. Harold Taylor will be greatly missed by all. May he rest in peace.
