Harry Carter Burris, age 74, of Springfield, passed away Monday, June 17, 2013 in his home. He was born on March 7, 1939 in Springfield, Mo. the son of Harry Cone and Mary Adella Burris. He was married to Donna Sue Nichols for 39 years. Carter owned W.W. Johnson Construction and Burris & Company with his dad and brother for many years. They were involved in the construction of many buildings throughout Springfield and the surrounding area. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife. He is survived by two children and their spouses: Mitzi and Paul Ivy of Republic, Mo. and Chris and Denise Burris of Billings, Mo. and six grandchildren: Meghan, Emily, Kristen, William, Mar Dee and Matthew. He is also survived by a brother: Tim and wife Mollie of Rogersville, Mo. a sister Jenny Shelley and husband Wayne, of Springfield, Mo. a special aunt and uncle Joann and Dale Jones, of Springfield, Mo. a sister-in-law: Sue Ann Peterson, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, June 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Mausoleum at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Entombment will follow services. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. A special thanks to the staff of Hospice Compassus.
