Harry Wayne Morris passed over on Monday, June 3, 2013, at age 97. He was born in Hillsdale, Kansas, to David Lewis Morris and Edna Mae (Ayres) Morris.
He graduated from high school in Paola, Kansas in 1933. On July 7, 1942, he married Ruth Elizabeth Manning and to this union two children were born. On January 20, 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until June 30, 1945, serving in the pacific during World War II as a Master Sergeant.
He worked as a salesman; he was an avid gardener; for many years he served as Sunday school teacher, choir member and usher at church. He enjoyed watching sports; he played pool regularly at the Northview Center with friends. He was a good husband, father, and provider. He had a long and happy life and will be missed by his friends and loved ones.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ruth; his sister and brother-in-law, Waneta and Glenn Barnes; brother-in-law, Lloyd Manning; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Opal and Jack Pettigrew; nephew, W.D. Barnes; nieces, Shirley Spears and Jeanne Carole Eilenstine; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He is survived by daughter, Rita Kaye Morris of Reeds Spring, MO; son, Johnny W. Morris and his wife, Linda of Springfield, MO; grandchildren: Tim Cologna, Elizabeth Hansen and her husband, Fred, Matthew Morris, Chris Jones and his wife, Tracy, and Wendy Farmer; great-grandchildren: Zach Branch, Melaney Branch, Aaron Branch, Makayla Hansen, Brittney Jones, Kearsten Jones, Samantha Jones, Megan Jones, Amanda Paige Farmer, and Dakota Farmer; great-great-grandson, Noah McNeil; sister-in-law Paralee Manning; many nieces, nephews, and a cousin; and his best friend, Betty Byars.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2013, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will follow in Marshfield Cemetery, Marshfield, MO. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday in the funeral home prior to the service.
