Harvey Wayne Bearden, 72, passed away September 21, 2013 in his home and ascended to heaven. He was born January 19, 1941 to Amanda and Charlie Bearden. Harvey graduated in 1959 from Hillcrest High School and served four years in the United States Marine Corps. He worked 40 years for Frisco-Burlington Northern RR, mainly as a locomotive engineer, before becoming disabled from a brain stem stroke in 1996. Harvey was a very loving and upbeat person.
Harvey was preceded in death by his grandson, Justin Harris; parents; sister, Charlene Bridges; brother in law, Richard Tatum and mother in law, Willie Ash. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; daughter Tammy, of the home; son, Ron Bearden and wife Monica of Andrews, Texas; daughter, Amy McClelland Peterson and husband Eric of Little Rock, AR, daughter Amanda Curtis and husband, Adam of Austin, Texas; sister and caregiver, Cindy McMillian and husband, Dale and sister, Christy Colley and husband Marvin; brothers, Francis, Johnny and Gerald and his wife, Jann; brother in law, Bruce Bridges; sister in law, Beverly Tatum; 5 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Our thanks to Harvey’s longtime physician, Dr. Michael Hoeman; nurse, Kathy and the staff at Hospice Compassus. He will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation and viewing will be from 4-6 pm Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North and immediately following, the body will be cremated. Per Harvey’s request, there will be no funeral services. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus, 1465 E. Primrose, Springfield, Missouri 65804.
