Helen Hazel Maggard age 96 of Bradleyville, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
She was born on June 8, 1930 in Springfield, Missouri the daughter of Preston and Beaulah Rueter Blair. Helen was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Bradleyville High School. She also drove a school bus for the school for six years and got to make several senior trips.
Helen worked the primary elections for the Republican Party in Bradleyville. She was very active in her New Mansion Church. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed making beautiful quilts and was an excellent seamstress. She was quite a historian of the area. Helen and her husband and Darrell and Charlotte Roberts formed a quartet many years ago and sang at many funerals in the area until illness caused them to disband.
She was united in marriage to Burl Maggard on October, 28, 1950 in Harrison, Arkansas and to this union was born three daughters. She survived by her three daughters; Treva Herd of Rogersville, Mo., Jewell Maggard of Bradleyville, Mo., and Sherry Henning of Bradleyville, Mo. Six grandchildren; Nick Herd, Sarah Nash, Isaac Henning, James Henning, Ray Henning, Myriah Wallace and six great grandchildren; Reagan, Landon, Hayden, Holten, Hesten and Nora. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Preston and Beaulah Blair, her husband, Burl Maggard, two brothers, Everett and Hobart Blair. And one sister, Eunice Blair Bearce.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, June 19, 2026 at Patterson Cemetery at Bradleyville with Pastor Jeff Marsh officiating.
Visitation will be from Noon until 2:00 PM on Friday at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson.
