Helen Leone Trent was born June 14, 1923, in Seymour, MO. She left this life on June 25, 2013 at the age of 90 years and 11 days. Helen married Paul Trent on April 19, 1944. To this union, one son was born. She later married Ralph Day.
Shortly after Pearl Harbor was attacked, Helen went to work for a telephone company in Kansas City. Later she would go to work for Southwestern Bell in Springfield, MO, where she retired from. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers.
Helen was saved as a young woman. She was a long time member of Macedonia Baptist Church, but had been home-bound for many years. She loved flowers and pets and was supportive of the Humane Society and C.A.R.E.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Mary (Rush) Matney, 1 brother, Homer Matney, 2 sisters Opha Absher and Velma Kleier and 2 great-grandchildren. Helen is survived by her son Roger Trent of Shell Knob, 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Jerry Kleier of Seymour, MO who has been a great help to her in these later years. She had two long time friends who were also there for her a lot, Helen Tipton and Christine Crain.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield, MO with burial following in Star Cemetery in Seymour, MO. In lieu of flowers, Helen had ask that donations be made to C.A.R.E. or to Stain Glassed Windows at Macdonia Baptist Church.
