Born to Helen and Frank Lumpee in Sedalia, Missouri on December 15, 1927. Ginny graduated from Roosevelt High School in St. Louis and then joined the Cadet Nursing Corps and graduated from Missouri Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. After graduation she worked in Labor & Delivery in Washington DC and later worked many years as Head Nurse of Ophthalmology at St. John’s (Mercy) Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
Ginny married Robert “Bud” Norton on September 19, 1954 in St. Louis. They had five children and celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary prior to Bud’s death in November of 2014. Ginny had many cherished lifelong friendships, she enjoyed playing bridge, connecting with friends at luncheons, hosting parties and spending time with family. Ginny and Bud instilled a strong sense of family in their children and created many warm family traditions that will be their legacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents Helen and Frank Lumpee, her sister Nancy Pate, and her beloved husband Bud Norton. Survived by her five children: Cynthia Anderson (Bruce), Robert Norton, Jr. (Jill), Frank Norton, (Julie), Nancy Norton, Marianne Foster, (Bear) grandchildren: Tessa Anderson, Dylan McHardy, Bailey Norton, Robert Norton III, Kelly Norton,(Chase), Ginney Norton, Frank Norton, Jr, (Lauren Phillips), Brianna Varghese (Mathew), Austin Foster, Nathaniel Norton, great grandchildren: Cody McHardy, Sally McHardy, Sarai Varghese, Ella Varghese
Ginny spent her final months in the home of and with the loving care of her youngest daughter, Marianne. She will be buried beside her husband, Bud at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. She requested no services be held, other than a private family gathering.
