Henry H. Hughes, 76, of Elkland, MO passed away June 15, 2018 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
Henry was born in Denham Springs, LA on July 20, 1941, the son of Johnny Hughes and Katie (Rushing) Hughes. He was 1 of 11 children. He completed the 11th grade when he enlisted into the US Army and went on to receive his GED.
Henry was married to Jimmie (Wascom) Hughes on January 2, 1959. They were married for 59 wonderful years.
Henry enlisted in the US Army in 1958 serving 10 years doing 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, Henry went on to become a Millwright for manufacturing plants in and around Baton Rouge, LA. Henry retired in 2003 and moved to Missouri few years later so he and Jimmie could be with their daughter and her family and be close enough to watch their grandchildren, great grandchildren and eventually their great great grandchildren grow up.
Henry was preceded in death by his son James H. Hughes, his parents Johnny and Katie, 1 sister, 7 brothers and 1 granddaughter.
Henry is survived by his beloved wife Jimmie Hughes, daughter Judy Schneider, 2 granddaughters, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson and 2 brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Missouri Veterans Home of Mt. Vernon, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Sunday prior to the service.
Burial with military honors will be at 11:00 AM Monday, June 25, 2018 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd., Springfield, Missouri.
